Its craters contain ice, at least to some extent. The moon’s south pole is one probable hot spot because And third, while guaranteeing high visibility for lunar hot spots, we don’t want to deny connectivity to any other portions of the surface as a result.Īny relay-satellite network needs to provide the best possible service and coverage with the minimum number of satellites. Second, orbits need to be selected with continuous or near-continuous physical line of sight to “hot spots” that will likely have considerable human or robotic activity. First, we would like to use orbits that are stable-meaning satellites would require little or no maneuvering. Placing relay satellites in orbit around the moon comes with challenges. With this relay system, missions anywhere on the lunar surface would have reliable, consistent connections to Earth. This configuration would provide continuous coverage to the poles, and near-continuous coverage everywhere else, with only occasional slight gaps. The approach consists of 24 relay satellites to be placed in a constellation using 4 orbits, with 6 satellites per orbit. Argotec (at which Balossino is head of the R&D unit) is developing spacecraft concepts and JPL (at which Davarian is a project manager) is providing subsystems such as radios and antennas. A better solution to lunar connectivity is a network of relay spacecraft orbiting the moon to provide continuous coverage everywhere.Īrgotec and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) are collaborating on the concept of an orbiting relay satellite constellation called Andromeda. Small robots, for example, will not have the space or the power for these large systems. Even on the side facing Earth, hills and crater walls can block communications.Īnd on the practical side, direct communication across hundreds of thousands of kilometers of space requires a powerful communications terminal with a large antenna or a high-wattage amplifier, if not both. For example, the moon’s far side, as well as large portions of its poles, have no direct line of sight to Earth. While direct radio communication with Earth was used during the Apollo missions, it doesn’t work in every possible situation. The proposed Lunar Crater Radio Telescope would turn a crater on the far side of the moon into a massive dish-shaped antenna to survey the universe, accumulating massive amounts of data that need to be sent back to Earth for analysis. And this is only the beginning: We anticipate that interest in the moon will accelerate, eventually culminating in a permanent human presence on the surface. Of course, not all these planned missions will materialize, but many-if not most-will happen in some form. Over 90 lunar missions being considered for the years between now and 2030. This facility, known as the Lunar Gateway, would store supplies, host visiting astronauts, and facilitate communication between the moon and Earth.Īlthough the gateway is perhaps the most ambitious of the projects planned, it’s only one of NASA, for example, has plans to visit the moon using both robots and humans, and is also considering-with international collaborators-a small orbiting outpost in the next decade. The Apollo era, by both space agencies and commercial entities. Earth’s moon is the target of more missions than at any time since

With ScreenSteps you can create separate lessons and manuals to organize your shots. Nearly all recently released screen capture applications (and there have been several) include these tools, but the management features of ScreenSteps sets it above all other programs of its kind. ScreenSteps also includes annotation tools for making lines, rectangles, ovals, sequence number, and of course, text. I can instead use the screen shots to guide my writing. Now I don't have to switch back and forth to the application about which I'm writing. This is a huge time saver, both for planning and publishing documents.Įven when I don’t use the text editor of ScreenSteps, it’s still super for parking it on a second monitor and referencing my screen shots as I write. I can post blog entries directly from the application itself. I now use ScreenSteps to write my WordPress blog posts. If you’re writing a software manual or putting together a knowledge base for a software program, ScreenSteps works great because you can use its interface not only to manage your screen shots, but as a text editor to write step by step instructions for end users. You can use any screen capture application on your Mac, or use the capturing features of ScreenSteps itself. When using ScreenSteps, as you make screen captures they get saved in ScreenSteps and can be viewed in the order the shots were taken. But ScreenSteps takes the screen capture management to another level. Up until I started using this program, I would have screen captures saved to my desktop and automatically arranged by file format. ScreenSteps is about helping you manage screen captures and produce documents more efficiently. If you don’t know about ScreenSteps, you might be thinking, "Oh, another screen capturing app, what else is new?" But au contraire. The job can be tedious at times, but I can say from my experience of using Bluemango’s ScreenSteps that a screen capturing application is an awesome solution. With ScreenSteps, you will give them professional looking documentation that's easy to find and simple to use.Any developer, writer, teacher, or technician who has the job of explaining some aspect of computer technology to end users knows how essential it is to use screen captures (both still and video) to help explain or troubleshoot computer programs. If you just invested hundreds of thousands of dollars (or millions of dollars) on a new CRM, Financial system, or a custom app, make sure you have training docs to help users learn how it works. ScreenSteps is perfect for creating and organizing: The word processor is specifically designed for inserting and editing several screenshots into your IT training documentation.īecause it's so easy to author in, you can create more documentation in a lot less time (plus, you can recruit more people to contribute to your knowledge base). ScreenSteps comes with a desktop word processor for authoring visual training aids, and replaces authoring tools like Word, Paint, PowerPoint, and InDesign. Plus, the user knowledge base is Mobile friendly, and all of your content can also be exported to PDF manuals. Implementing ScreenSteps is very straightforward-it only takes a few hours to set up (not weeks or months).
On to the performances now please do not expect a good acting game, even though the cast includes renowned figures of the cinema such as Aidan Gillen, who portrayed Janson, and Patricia Clarkson, who plays Ava Paige in the Maze Runner both play quite standard characters. There are moments when the audience might notice someone interesting on the big screen, but their appearance is too superficial to bring about a development of a better plot. Unfortunately, their behaviour is often ludicrous, and the dialogues are sometimes unbearable to listen to. In the end, how can we perceive the activities of a group of approximately 10 characters as serious, when they – instead of saving the humanity – concentrate only on finding one of their companions? The maximum level of absurdity is shown in the finale, where the scale of risk exceeds any norms and logic – I have never before shaken my head with disbelief as much as I did when I was watching this film.Ĭharacters are still very poorly developed one would have thought that by now, they would be more clear and detailed. This is a very busy but rather boring (even if it is effective) way to begin Maze Runner: The Death Cure. The film’s plot tries to finish the story that started a long time ago, but in the new Maze Runner we only get a mix that results in more absurdities, stupidities and fatal solutions. Unfortunately, he is not in the carriage that Thomas’ crew takes charge of. The film begins with a fast-paced scene that involves a train chase, the aim of which is to rescue Minho. To save their dearest friend Minho ( Ki Hong Lee), the team must find a cure for a deadly disease and break into the legendary, final labyrinth, or rather a huge cooperation building in which endless obstacles await the youngsters. In the last chapter, Thomas leads a group of refugees on their most dangerous mission. Initially, he had to escape the Maze with his Glader friends in the first production then, in the second one, he had to endure the Scorch Trials, a deadly trek through a hot, barren wasteland. Nowlin, is the final chapter of the popular saga about the young protagonist Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his friends. Thomas has been running around ragged during the first two of The Maze Runner series. Sometimes, you just want to hear some scientists talk shop for a minute.īut, hey, a few of those fight and chase sequences are a-maze-ing.Maze Runner: The Death Cure, directed by Wes Ball and written by T.S. In so doing, it relies on a lot of repeat devices to earn its thrills - namely perfectly timed, life-saving rescues, often from the sky. The movie has, for the most part, jettisoned many of the story’s previous science fiction elements to focus more on action. “The Death Cure” doesn’t work on every level. His commanding yet geeky portrayal is a sharp nod to “Lord of the Flies.” Another solid turn comes from Thomas Brodie-Sangster (also from “Game of Thrones”) as Newt. O’Brien never allows the proceedings to become either too heavy or too light, which is key for a young-adult action movie. His most special skill, however, is setting a film’s tone. With the “Maze Runner” series and last year’s “American Assassin” already under his belt, 26-year-old O’Brien has rapidly emerged as a very likable, but imposing action star. Plus the performances actually rise above the usual empty-headed jockishness of the genre. While a reliance on obvious feelings doesn’t make for great Oscar bait, it certainly drives a taut, wholly enjoyable action flick, such as “The Death Cure.” The characters’ motivations here are textbook simple: survival, love and friendship. The group’s journey to get back their guy is not one of great emotional or psychological complexity. Minho is being kept prisoner in the walled-off Last City, where he’s subjected to even more cruel laboratory tests by a jerk doctor played by Patricia Clarkson. But first they must rescue their man Minho (Ki Hong Lee) from WCKD’s clutches. Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) and his pals plan to sail away to an island safe-haven, hoping to escape the increasingly hostile world. “The Death Cure” starts where the last film, “The Scorch Trials,” left off. Now, those trigger-happy teens are hungry for a new life - but not before getting revenge. Desperately seeking a cure for a worldwide zombie plague, WCKD spent years inhumanely experimenting on a group of boys who have a rare immunity to the devastating virus. Here he’s Janson, leader of the evil WCKD organization (pronounced “Wicked,” these thugs could use some serious brand reinvention). But “Game of Thrones” actor Aidan Gillen has, indeed, slithered back to the third and final chapter of the “Maze Runner” film series, in which he plays a character just as vile, conniving and, well, squirmy as Petyr Baelish. This ballpark number has remained pretty steady for the years I’ve been tracking it. The best “industry estimate” is that there are around 2500 comics shops in the US, according to a piece in Games Radar. Not all of these accounts are comics shops – some are online retailers or even “buying clubs” – although my understanding is that it’s harder to start this kind of account these days. The English word nomad comes from the Middle French nomade, from Latin nomas ("wandering shepherd"), from Ancient Greek νομᾰ́ς ( nomás, “roaming, wandering, esp. These groups are known as " peripatetic nomads". Sometimes also described as "nomadic" are various itinerant populations who move among densely populated areas to offer specialized services ( crafts or trades) to their residents-external consultants, for example. For example, many groups living in the tundra are reindeer herders and are semi-nomadic, following forage for their animals. Nomadism is also a lifestyle adapted to infertile regions such as steppe, tundra, or ice and sand, where mobility is the most efficient strategy for exploiting scarce resources. Pastoralists raise herds of domesticated livestock, driving or accompanying them in patterns that normally avoid depleting pastures beyond their ability to recover. Nomadic hunting and gathering-following seasonally available wild plants and game-is by far the oldest human subsistence method. In the twentieth century, the population of nomadic pastoral tribes slowly decreased, reaching an estimated 30–40 million nomads in the world as of 1995. Such groups include hunter-gatherers, pastoral nomads (owning livestock), tinkers and trader nomads.
